It’s every woman’s desire to have a soft, clear skin without any blemishes, yes, that’s right most of you have used so much money on cosmetic products that promises good results but after sometime you are left to regret with inflammed, clogged pores that caused breakouts all over your face. I know that you are frustrated and are looking for ways to get your glow back! With these tips I’m about to share with you, you will definitely get your skin popping again.

Cleansing

Before you put anything on your skin, you definitely have to start with a clean face. Make sure to use gentle cleansers if your skin is sensitive and dry. Waking up in the morning do cleanse as well as when you come back home after a long day. It’s advised by most skin care professionals to wash your face 2 times a day to avoid drying out your skin.

Exfoliation

After cleaning your face, follow up with exfoliation. Exfoliants vary in different textures and benefits, there are moisturizing ones and those that are harsh to your skin so, between physical and chemical exfoliants, I personally would choose chemical ones like Alpha hydroxyl acids (glycolic acid) which are gentle to the skin unlike physical ones I find them irritating to the skin and if not done right, it may lead to more skin damage. For deeper pore cleansing (this applies to those with acne) use BHAs like salicylic acid…these are some of the benefits of using AHAs:

  • Increases collagen production
  • Tolerates more skin types
  • Get rid of acne scars revealing a newer and brighter skin.

It removes the outermost layer of the epidermis making it a weekly or bi- weekly go to product for a glowing renewed skin.

Revitalizing face masks

Using face masks come with wider range of benefits especially after exfoliation. We have restoring face masks, smoothing & glowing there are many, that’s a whole new topic to discuss. So for today I will just do an overview of all of them. These are the benefits of doing face masks on a weekly basis for peel off masks:

  • Removes facial hairs from your skin.
  • It smoothens the skin.
  • Reduce appearance of large pores.
  • Absorbs excess oil produced by your face.
  • Alleviates clogged pores.
  • Firms skin & evening out your face.
  • Dimishes fine lines increasing hydration.

Moisturize your face

This is the deeper part that cannot be overseen but should be overdone actually, you will have to moisturize to give your face some love💖 without this your face can dry out, become dull and pale and also crack. That’s why you have to keep on moisturizing morning & evening. These are some of the benefits of moisturizing your face:

  • Moisture helps prevent further breakouts- when skin is irritated and dry it tends to cause breakouts and acne.
  • Facial moisturizers help to balance your skin’s complexion and prevents acne breakouts.
  • Makes your face softer, smoother and glowing.
  • Helps in reduction of appearance of fine lines and dry spots.
  • Nourishes your skin with a protective layer that acts as a barrier against environmental pollutants.
  • Some facial moisturizers offer protection from the sun , soothing sensitive skin.

Additional tips

Use a good sunscreen with an SPF factor

Pay special attention to certain special areas after the age of 30. Areas like neck and hands become loose gradually also observe dark under eye circles and puffiness.

Switch your skin care routines with change in seasons did you know dry and cold weather can rip moisture from your skin? Take precaution and and change with seasons.

Ban chemicals, don’t be lured by fabulous advertisement you see try read the ingredients list before you purchase a product.

Make up removal. Do not forget to remove any traces of makeup from your face every day, sleeping with makeup clogs your pores and triggers breakouts and pimples.

Sleep beauty. While we sleep our bodies repair damaged cells and replenishes the old ones, get your beauty sleep for at least 8 hours daily for a beautiful and glowing skin

Stay away from bad habits. Addiction like those of alcohol, smoking , tobacco can lead to serious skin disorders & problems. They are responsible for premature aging, fine lines and wrinkles, make sure you stay clean from inside out for a glowy skin.

Reasons why African hair doesn’t grow!

At least that’s what “we” like to say, approximately (50/100) of black women don’t like their hair, which makes them believe that our hair is a doomed to fail! And cannot grow past a certain length. That is not entirely the truth!

So, in this article today I’m going to be contrary to what most believe..

African hair is just like any other hair in the world, the difference is the hair texture, allignment, curly, coily and kinky nature of our hair. With that most of us don’t even know our hair type, porosity or even what our hair needs are? Our hair shrinks up to 20% of the original length…which is crazy but good thing, because it shows your hair is healthy. so that’s a good thing. Here are the reasons why we fail to grow long, healthy hair:

  • Over blow drying
  • Tight protective styling
  • Not cutting splits
  • Don’t deep condition
  • Wearing weaves for 3 months
  • Not cleaning & oiling our scalp
  • Using sulphate shampoos
  • Lack of iron in our bodies

With these reasons let’s get deep into each one..

Over blow drying

So there is a routine that most of us have, getting our hair washed after a month or two of protective styling in a salon then blow drying with high heat until our hair “fries” and even without any heat protectant…that’s bad! Way bad! Even by just a thought of it, because it dries out our ends, burns our scalp then leads to breakage. Minimize heat as much as possible and you will definitely see growth & healthy hair.

Tight protective styling

We know that protective styling is good for our hair but the way our most, if not all salonists do, which is pulling out our hair and destroying our edges. If possible train yourself to do your own hair and if you can’t then find a trusted salonist to do it for you, and make sure you get value for your money. Don’t let them pull your hair too tight because you will definitely be losing chucks of hair every time you do a protective styling!

Not cutting splits!

When you don’t know anything about hair then you don’t! You have to learn…so I know the feeling of retaining every bit of your hair without the knowledge of what splits can do! There is no way of curing splits unless you cut them off! To be able to see significant hair growth you will have to cut✂️ the damaged ends off! And you will thank me later when your hair reaches down your back😀.

Don’t deep condition

As I stated above that “routine” shows that most of us don’t even know what deep conditioning hair is or what it means? It’s the application of a thick and restorative formula to your hair using heat to encourage the penetration of the formula into your hair. Incorporate it Into your routine and you watch your hair flourish. Get this keratin treatment👉https://amzn.to/2Z0MDE6

Wearing weaves for 3 months

Wearing hair in weaves for a prolonged period of time, may weigh down and pull your hair causing breakage. Especially, if hair is glued in or your braids have been created too tight…don’t allow this practice to ruin your hair growth efforts. Minimize the time frame that you stay with your weave on or eliminate that practice altogether.

using sulphate shampoos

Many are the times we buy shampoos and don’t read the ingredients list or rather in a salon we don’t ask which type of shampoo they are using on us. It’s time you start reading & and ask if you don’t know. Using such shampoos causes dry scalp and hair. And its because it dissolves all the natural oils on your scalp causing dandruffs and irritations over time. Instead use sulphate free shampoos like👉https://amzn.to/37PkOTi for healthy hair.

Insufficient iron in our blood

Usually, when you don’t have enough iron in your system, you may not produce haemoglobin that carries sufficient oxygen to your scalp for maximum hair growth and repairs cells that stimulate hair follicles. I encourage you take more of leafy greens like spinach, kale and collards which are loaded with nutrients for hair growth. Along with that take omega 3s from fish or supplements. you will love both your skin and hair👌.

Not cleaning & oiling our scalp

First of all, our scalp produces sebum and not oil. Not oiling our scalp results in build up of sebum that causes us to have flakes that later becomes dandruffs, which may affect the health of to scalp negatively. By oiling our scalp oftenly regulates sebum production thus preventing it from drying out and becoming itchy…start by oiling your scalp today and forget about itchy scalp & dry hair.

Also wash your hair frequently to avoid build up and itchy scalp. Develop a routine maybe weekly or bi-weekly to wash and condition your hair.

Let me know if you ditched these practices and how your hair is flourishing! With love, take care of your hair because no body else will do it for you.

Ever wondered why coconut oil is recommended for hair growth??

Well, here is the reason why!

Coconut oil is an oil packed with lauric acid and vitamin E & K. Which relieves itching and prevents flaking of the scalp, making it a perfect remedy for cradle cap & eczema.

The antifungal properties also prevents rashes, and sooth skin and reduce inflammation…well who wouldn’t want that??

Use it also for hot oil treatment…some of you haven’t heard anything like that so here I’mma break it down for you!! put your oil in bowl and use a double boiler method and heat your oil for few seconds…ps. don’t heat your oil directly as it’s going to lose it’s nutrients & efficiency also make sure your oil is warm not hot!!

You can now go ahead and massage your scalp with your fingers( not nails) which will improve blood circulation and in turns stimulates growth.

Use it as a pre-poo treatment just before you shampoo your hair so it doesn’t leave your hair and scalp dry, use some more on the ends as the ends tends to dry faster.

It’s anti-fungal, anti-microbial and anti- bacterial properties helps eliminate dandruffs. Also its anti-oxidant and moisturizing properties deeply nourishes dry scalp and gives instant relief..

For type 4 hairs queens! It also detangles hair really well, as it slides through each hair strand, removing tangles and giving you such an amazing experience after wash days.

What more would you need than to use this powerful oil for long, thick and luscious hair!!
